Problem:
We need to design a festival brand that authentically represents kimchi's regional diversity, traditional roots, and modern innovations while remaining welcoming to global audiences. The challenge is to avoid cultural clichés while making all 300+ kimchi varieties feel vibrant and accessible to everyone.
Solution:
Researched kimchi's cultural roots, then created vibrant posters, tickets, and brochures featuring playful veggie illustrations and bold typography to capture Korean cuisine's energy and make the festival feel fun and welcoming.

Design System
For the Kimchi Festival, I created a vibrant design system using bold red and yellow to capture the event's lively and appetizing spirit. I paired this with playful, dynamic typography to reflect the fun, festive atmosphere. To add a personal and authentic touch, I incorporated hand drawn elements.

Takeways
Through this project, I gained valuable experience in maintaining brand consistency across different media like posters, brochures, and tickets while keeping the designs fun and culturally respectful. Research was key in understanding Korean aesthetics and kimchi’s significance, helping me balance playful visuals with authentic cultural touches. I also improved in hierarchy and layout, making sure information was clear and engaging.
